Abstract

In this full research paper, we present Augur, a novel approach for predicting the energy consumption of scientific workflow tasks before they are executed on heterogeneous cluster and cloud infrastructure. By combining lightweight workflow and infrastructure profiling with minimal historical execution data, Augur enables accurate runtime and energy prediction, outperforming existing methods and providing a foundation for energy-efficient and carbon-aware workflow scheduling.
